Real Sociedad have confirmed the appointment of Jagoba Arrasate as their new head coach, following the departure of Philippe Montanier.
The Estadio Anoeta outfit enjoyed great success last season under the guidance of Montanier, securing a place in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2004.
However, the Frenchman opted not to stay with the Basque outfit for their return to Europe's elite club competition, and was announced as the new boss of Ligue 1 side Rennes on May 21.
Sociedad had been linked with a move for former France manager Laurent Blanc, but the club's hierarchy have chosen to go for continuity by hiring Montanier's former assistant.
Club president Jokin Aperribay said: "The appointment of Jagoba Arrasate is one taken with a clear strategy in mind.
"We will start next season without any doubt and with a perfect knowledge of what we have.
"Jagoba has inner knowledge of the club and meets the characteristics we were looking for."
Despite Montanier's somewhat surprising decision, Aperribay insisted there was no ill-feeling towards their former manager.
"We only have words of thanks for Philippe Montanier," he added.
A former youth player with Sociedad, Arrasate started his managerial career with minnows Berriatuko and Elgiobar before rejoining his old club with as a youth coach.
The 35-year-old spent last season as one of Montanier's backroom staff and will be unveiled as Sociedad's first-team coach on Saturday.
