Saturday’s matchup features the most recent Big Ten co-players of the week with Ohio State fifth-year quarterback Kenny Guiton and Wisconsin sophomore running back Melvin Gordon in the limelight.
Guiton is coming off a school record-setting six-touchdown performance in the 76-0 rout of Florida A&M where he was 24-of-34 passing for 215 yards and only played in the first half. It was the second straight week Guiton took home conference player of the week honors.
“(Guiton) has been there a while and from the outside looking in its great to see a kid his opportunity. He’s playing real well,” Anderson said.
Guiton was also selected as the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week.
Gordon had 147 yards rushing on 16 carries and a career-high three touchdowns in Wisconsin’s 41-10 win over Purdue in their Big Ten opener. It was Gordon’s fourth straight game with 140 yards or more rushing.
“I have been watching their offense and it seems like every year they get — if not the same quality back — maybe (one) a little bit better,” said Meyer.
