About Swansea City

Swansea City Association Football Club was founded in 1912 as Swansea Town. They joined the football league in 1921 and the club changed their name in 1969 to reflect Swansea’s status as a City. They are won of the most successful clubs in Welsh football and they have won 10 Welsh Cups. They are the first Welsh club to play in the Premier League. In 2011 they finally gained entry into the Premiership with a stunning 4-2 victory over Reading Football Club in the Championship play-off final.

Swansea’s home ground is the Liberty Stadium. It is a purpose built all-seated stadium with a capacity of 20,750 making it the second smallest stadium in the Premier League.
