Terrance Williams is entering his second season with the Dallas Cowboys after a surprising 2013 that saw the rookie wide receiver make 44 catches for 736 yards and five touchdowns. Williams’ strong performance led to the Cowboys releasing former Pro Bowl wideout Miles Austin at the end of the season. Williams is listed as No. 2 on the Cowboys’ depth chart for 2014.
Early Years & College
Williams was born in Dallas, Texas, on Sept. 8, 1989. He attended W.T. White High where he earned All-District honors as both a wide receiver and defensive back as a senior, catching 59 passes for 972 yards. After graduating, Williams went to Baylor University where he was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award and unanimous first-team All-America in 2012. Williams recorded 202 receptions for 3,334 yards and 27 touchdowns in his four-year collegiate career, while also competing for the Baylor track and field team.
Williams was selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft (74th overall) after Dallas traded down in the first round to land the pick later used to secure the 74th overall pick. Williams struggled early in training camp and at the start of the regular season with turnovers before earning a starting spot in Week 4. He wound up starting eight games at wide receiver, while proving a vital contributor in the kick return game – six returns for 142 yards. Williams’ receiving totals – 44 receptions, 736 yards, five touchdowns – ranked fourth in franchise history for a rookie.
