Texans And Eagles Trade Players

Created on Aug. 12, 2013 6:57 PM EST

The Houston Texans sent WR Jeff Maehl to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for OT Nate Menkin, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Jeff McClain.

The Eagles clearly aren’t happy with their options behind DeSean Jackson at wide receiver after they lost Jeremy Maclin for the season due to a torn ACL. Maehl will be competing with Riley Cooper, Jason Avant, Damaris Johnson and several others for a spot on the depth chart.

Maehl spent some time in Oregon with coach Chip Kelly at wide receiver and on special teams. However, he went undrafted out of college, and he has yet to record a single reception in the NFL. Whether he earns any playing time has yet to be seen, but he does have a slight leg up on the competition due to his prior experience in Kelly’s system.

Menkin hasn’t played a single game in the NFL, and he’s likely to be relegated to reserve duties or a spot on the practice squad for the Texans.
