For the past decade, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most successful franchises in the NFL, winning two Super Bowls, three AFC championships, and making six postseason appearances. For the past several years, though, the team has begun to age. Some of the team’s core players have retired or moved on and some of team’s best players – Ben Roethlisberger, Troy Polamalu, James Harrison, and Brett Keisel, are on the wrong side of 30.
As a new generation of players begins to take their place, the Steelers have been faced with a group of young players who have not quite lived-up to the “standard” set by head coach Mike Tomlin and Pittsburgh management. Here is a listing of the best of the young guns the team is hoping will lead the next era of greatness for this proud franchise.
