Titans Win Comes With A Price
It’s very rare that when a team wins a game, especially such a one sided affair, that the mood is grim in a locker room. Unfortunately, thats exactly how the Titans feel sitting 3-1 and tied for first place in the AFC South. The defense was amazing and kept the Jets offense guessing constantly. No matter who was throwing the ball, the Titan wide receivers looked like they were coming together without Kenny Britt. Most importantly, the Titans showed they can win games even when Chris Johnson is ineffective, something they couldn’t do last year. Rewind to the 13-10 Titan win last season and you can see how far this team has come, but this week the story is the health of Jake Locker
In a game that was all but over, the Titans captain went down with a hip injury and was carted off the field. With mixed reports, it’s wait and see with how severe the apparent hip injury is. But going forward, what do the Titans do? Ryan Fitzpatrick looked serviceable in his limited time despite coming off the bench cold and with no chemistry with the starters. The Titans look to be preparing for life without Locker for the foreseeable future, and with the 4-0 Chiefs, 4-0 Seahawks and the defending NFC Champion 49ers coming to town, we will see how legitimate this Titan team is.
With the elite competition coming up in the next three weeks, it could have been a coming out party for Locker and the Titans, but they are now 3-1 with an uncertain future. If this injury is not as severe as first feared, you have to wonder if the Titans use caution with Locker, especially with the elite pass rushing that is coming to town. Locker was showing progress each and every week up until the injury and you can’t help but feel bad for him and the Titans. With the gauntlet the Titans are about to face, it looks like we will see what Ryan Fitzpatrick has with the reigns in his hands. We here in Titans nation are praying for Locker and wishing him a speedy recovery.
