5. No. 2 Brian Cushing
Cushing has been one of the faces of the Houston defense since he was drafted 15th overall in the 2009 NFL Draft.
Cushing made an impact right out the gate finishing his first NFL season as the defensive rookie of the year and being named a pro bowler. He was also named 2011 team captain to start the season and ended the 2011 season as the team’s MVP.
Cushing did not see a lot of time during the 2012 season after leaving a game against the New York Jets in week five of the season. Cushing tore his ACL and was out for the rest of the year. However, Cushing has had time to heal and should be ready to go for the start of the season. If he comes out and plays like he did in 2009, Cushing could finish the season as comeback player of the year or even the defensive player of the year.
