Defensor Sporting have claimed a mental edge over Penarol ahead of their Primera Division final with a 1-1 draw away to Cerro.
Penarol, who topped the league table in Uruguay during the Apertura season, had moved top of the Clausura standings with a 4-0 thumping of Liverpool on Saturday but Defensor Sporting regained the lead soon after with their draw against Cerro.

Carlos Nunez put Penarol in front just before half-time but after the break the visitors breached Liverpool's defence three more times with Mauro Fernandez, Marcelo Zalayeta and Fabian Estoyanoff also getting on the scoresheet for the visitors.
El Tanque Sisley and Juventud de Las Piedras ended their respective campaigns with a 4-4 draw, while reigning champions Nacional finished with a 2-1 victory over Wanderers.
