The New York Giants lost their most dynamic weapon on offense in a blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Victor Cruz was forced from the game after he suffered a concussion and knee injury.
Cruz caught a high pass for what was thought to be a 16-yard gain in the third quarter, but a Pete Carroll challenge overturned it. He banged his head hard on the turf when he came down, and he was on the field for a few minutes. He was able to walk off the field with the help of trainers, but he was moving slowly and cautiously.
Cruz caught only two passes for 25 yards on seven targets against the Seahawks’ stifling defense. This extends his touchdown drought to 10 games.
His status for next week is up in the air. Most players typically miss at least one game while going through the NFL’s league-mandated concussion protocols. With the season already in the drain, expect the team to take the precautious approach by holding him out.
