Vikings Likely To Start Ponder Over Freeman
By Allen Kim
The Minnesota Vikings are leaning toward putting Christian Ponder back under center this Sunday. However, Josh Freeman’s abysmal game in his debut for the Vikings isn’t the reason for the switch. Freeman left their Monday night game against the Giants with concussion-like symptoms, which makes it “more than likely” that Ponder will start.
“We’ll have to proceed as if he’s [Freeman] not going to make it,” said coach Leslie Frazier. "We need to get Christian ready to go."
Freeman will have to pass a number of league-mandated tests before he’s cleared to play again, and it’s unknown if he will reclaim the starting job when he’s ready to get back on the field.
"We're going to need a good game out of our quarterback," said Frazier, asking for something Freeman didn't deliver against the Giants. "We're focused on Christian having the best game of his career on Sunday night."
Regardless of whoever starts under center for the Vikings, they have a tough test ahead of them with the Green Bay Packers next up on the schedule.
