Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that defender Diego Lugano has moved to Premier League club West Brom. The 32-year-old has been linked with Steve Clarke's side for some time, but a deal was finally confirmed on Friday as the Ligue 1 champions offered their gratitude for his service.
"Paris Saint-Germain thanks Lugano for the professionalism he has shown throughout his contract and wishes him well in the English league," a statement from the club said.
The Uruguay international will now get his first opportunity at Premier League football after spending the last two years at the Parc des Princes, the latter of which he spent on loan at Malaga.
And he took to his Twitter profile to express his delight at moving to the Hawthorns.
"I am very pleased to join West Bromwich Albion for the next two years," Lugano wrote.
"I'm doing something that has been missing in my career, playing in the Premier League, without doubt the most beautiful and competitive league in the world.
"The challenge is to match what West Bromwich achieved last season and trying to go a step further to reach European competitions."
