What can Diego Costa bring to Chelsea?

One of the most talked-about about transfer 'saga's' since the end of the 2013/14 season has ended, and whether you like it or not, Diego Costa will play his football at Chelsea next season.

With recent news updates and plenty of stories, it seems as though this deal will go ahead and we will see Diego Costa play at Stamford Bridge throughout. In this article, I want to put across how Diego Costa's playing style can bring about positive effects on the Chelsea team, including silverware.

As we know, Chelsea like to play into their striker. The majority of the time they are looking to pump the ball into the forward man and hope that he is able to hold the ball up and bring wingers like Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle or Willian into play. However, Chelsea lacked a top, top striker last season and it was evident. They had no plan B. Their strikers didn't make an impact on the game and Chelsea were relying on other players to score their goals. But it is the strikers job, why aren't they doing it?

During last season, Mourinho said " I have a team, but no strikers" showing that Jose is fully aware that he needed to go into the Summer window and look for a striker who can of course, score goals. Mourino has opted to go with Diego Costa, a La Liga title winner and Atletico's top goal-scorer. He also, had a hand in getting his team into the Champions League Final.

Costa is the ideal striker for Chelsea, no matter what way you look at it. His bullish presence and his sense for the goal will enable to Chelsea to play off the Spanish international. His presence will allow himself to hold the ball up and set free the likes of Hazard. He also can score goals of different variety. He is very dominant in the air which will give Chelsea something to aim for in the box, something they didn't have when players like Torres are upfront.

With Diego Costa, and fellow signings, Chelsea should be a force to be reckoned with. If they can use Costa's abilities, such as his strength, reasonable pace and obviously, goalscoring ability - then I am sure that with the creativity behind him they will not struggle to find the back of the net and lead themselves to success.
