What's The Prognosis? Week 16 Injury Report (Weekend Update)
By Rob Pallazola
Aaron Rodgers: The Packers were hoping to have Rodgers back by now, but the star quarterback has still not been cleared to play. Rodgers was able to practice on a limited basis last week, but the medical staff must think more rehab is in order. The Packers haven't announced a starter as of yet, so there is still a small chance Rodgers could return.
Update: Rodgers has been ruled out of Sunday's game, and Matt Flynn will once again be the starter for the Packers.
Wes Welker: Welker still has not been cleared to do much of anything, but there is still time for the star receiver to do so before Sunday's game against the Texans. The Broncos may elect to hold Welker out again this week , but at this point, it's purely speculation whether they will or not.
Update: Welker has been shut down until the NFL playoffs, so he won't be able to help in owners in the fantasy championship week.
Adrian Peterson: Peterson was on the sidelines for last week's victory over the Eagles, but he is working to return for Week 16. Peterson was able to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday and coach Leslie Frazier is expecting him to be available on Sunday against the Bengals.
Update: Peterson is listed as questionable but is expected to play through whatever discomfort is in the foot.
Larry Fitzgerald: Fitzgerald has passed the initial tests on Monday, but is still working his way through the NFL concussion protocol. Fitzgerald is still aiming on starting in his Week 16 matchup against the Seahawks and the Cardinals are optimistic that he will be able to practice by Friday and suit up on Sunday.
Update:Fitzgerald is questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, but he still needs to pass one last test before being cleared to play. This is a game time decision type of a situation for Fitzgerald, so be ready to plug in someone else on Sunday.
Victor Cruz: Cruz is dealing with a knee injury as well as a concussion and his status for Week 16 doesn't look very good. Coach Tom Coughlin said that Cruz's knee would have been enough for him to sit out this week. Couple that with the concussion and the Giants could call it a season for Cruz.
Prognosis: Rueben Randle will take Cruz's role and is a low-end WR3.
Jermaine Gresham: Gresham is practicing, which removes all hope for an upside play in Tyler Eifert.
Jordan Cameron: Unable to pass concussion tests, Cameron has been ruled out for championship week.
