William Moore Arrested For Battery
Pro Bowl safety William Moore was arrested and charged with simple battery on Thursday. He appeared in court on Friday morning after being sent to Fulton County Jail. According to AJC.com and a report from WSB-TV, Moore grabbed a woman's shoulder during a dispute between the two.
Moore was selected in his first Pro Bowl last year, intercepting four passes in 12 games in the process. Moore is a valuable part of the defensive unit that was ranked #5 in interceptions last year. He appeared in 38 out of 40 games for the past three seasons, while recording 11 INTs, 201 tackles, and 25 passes defensed. If the league finds Moore violating the player conduct policy, the possible supsenion may cost him part of his guaranteed money. Moore signed a five-year, $30 million contract on March 9; $14 million of it is guaranteed, including a $2.25 million guaranteed base salary for this year.
Hopefully, Moore will handle his legal matters and join the Falcons for the the first month of the season. His possible punishment may leave a huge void at safety, especially since the team needs all the help they can get on a defense that was ranked near the bottom for total, pass, and rushing yards against.
We'll update you with more information on Moore as the legal process and commissioner's review unfolds.
