Williams May Be Unhappy With Buccaneers In Contract Negotiations
It appears that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and WR Mike Williams have hit a potential snag in contract negotiations. However, it was just last month that there was some optimism from Williams about his contract situation. When asked by Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times about a new deal, Williams said, “All I can say about it is that it’s very close.”
Now, it seems that there’s some trouble, and Williams opted to take the overly-dramatic route in expressing his displeasure over negotiations. He tweeted yesterday: “I FEEL LIKE MY FAMILY DON'T WANT ME....HAVENT I BEEN EVERYTHING YOU WANTED AND MORE WHY IS THIS SO HARD FOR YALL. .. AND WE SAY FAMILY FIRST.”
Stephen Holder of the Tampa Bay Times pointed out that the word “family” is important when reading between the lines. Coach Greg Schiano uses that acronym as a team motto. It stands for: Forget about me, I love you.
However, according to Holder, Williams and the Buccaneers are in regular communication with the goal of getting a deal done. But Williams’ enigmatic tweet would indicate otherwise.
