Head coach John Fox said Monday that X-rays on Moreno’s ribs came back negative and that he’s day-to-day for the time being.
Moreno exited Sunday’s AFC Championship game midway through the fourth quarter after taking a hit from New England’s Jamie Collins. He appeared to be in significant pain, and didn’t return for the remainder of the game. Moreno finished with 14 carries for 59 yards and two catches for 22 yards.
Montee Ball stepped in for the injured Moreno to finish out the game. If Moreno somehow can’t go, Ball will be the lead back with Ronnie Hillman playing in a change-of-pace role.
The good news (besides the X-rays being negative) is that the Broncos won 26-16 to advance to the Super Bowl, which gives the running back two weeks to rest. Given that he’ll basically have a bye week to rest up, he should be good to go come Feb. 2nd.
