Born in Auckland on 20 February 1999, Singh grew up in a family with roots in Jalandhar, Punjab. He began at Onehunga Sports before joining Wellington Phoenix in 2015, developing through the A-League system.
His international breakthrough came at the 2019 Under-20 World Cup, where his performances reportedly attracted Bayern Munich. The German club signed him that summer on a three-year contract, giving Singh an unexpected route into elite European football.
The report says Singh made his Bayern debut later in 2019, entering from the bench during a 6-1 victory over Werder Bremen. He replaced Philippe Coutinho in the closing stages.
That appearance reportedly made Singh the first player of Indian origin to play in the Bundesliga. It was a landmark moment, even if his opportunities in Bayern’s senior side remained limited. His story was no longer only about reaching Europe; it was about breaking a barrier at one of the continent’s most demanding clubs.
The next phase proved more complicated. Singh was reportedly loaned to FC Nürnberg for 2020-21, then moved to SSV Jahn Regensburg for 2021-22 and the following season.
His return to competitive football was delayed after a registration error reportedly left him unable to play until 1 January 2023. Before that, a move to Werder Bremen in June 2022 appeared close, but the club is said to have withdrawn after concerns surrounding a significant case of osteitis pubis.
The report says Singh is now with Wellington Phoenix on loan from Serbia’s TSC. The next challenge is turning a historic international breakthrough into sustained club momentum-and proving that his journey still has another major chapter ahead.
