Raphinha Prepared to Listen to Al-Hilal Proposal

Why Barcelona would hesitate

Raphinha has become central to Barcelona’s progress under Flick. The report says the club have won successive La Liga titles and five of the six domestic trophies available across the past two seasons.

That record makes any departure a sporting decision, not simply a financial transaction. Barcelona still lack the Champions League in this cycle, and Raphinha has been closely associated with the team’s improvement. Replacing his work rate, direct running and output would require more than adding another wide player.

A changing left-wing picture

Barcelona’s squad planning may nevertheless make the situation more complicated. The report says the club have signed Anthony Gordon in a deal reported at $80m (£70m), giving them a long-term option on the left.

Marcus Rashford’s reported purchase option, valued at $35m (£30m), was not exercised, meaning he is expected to return to Manchester United after the World Cup. Gordon’s arrival could reduce Barcelona’s dependence on Raphinha in one position, but it does not automatically make the Brazilian expendable.

It could, however, give the club greater leverage if Al-Hilal returns with a proposal that reflects Raphinha’s importance.

Brazil adds another layer

The report also says Raphinha has faced criticism in Brazil after the team’s reported 1-1 draw with Morocco. His club form has placed him among the leading individual performers in Europe, but expectations in the national team remain higher.

That contrast may make the World Cup especially important for his next decision. A strong tournament could strengthen his desire to remain at the highest European level; a difficult campaign could make a lucrative move more appealing.

The key moment will come after Brazil’s World Cup run, when Barcelona’s transfer plans and any renewed Al-Hilal approach are likely to converge.
