The report says Juventus are unwilling to meet Lucumí’s €28m release clause, leaving negotiations as the likely route to an agreement. With the defender’s Bologna contract running until June 2027, the Italian club may have little reason to reduce its demands.
A player-plus-cash proposal involving Fabio Miretti has reportedly been explored, but there is no indication that a deal is close. Juventus’ interest remains dependent on whether Bologna can be persuaded to move from its valuation.
Lucumí’s immediate focus is not the transfer market. The Colombia international is preparing for a World Cup last-16 tie against Switzerland, after his side reportedly defeated Ghana in the previous round.
“I'm at the World Cup right now,” Lucumí said when asked about Juventus. His position is clear: club discussions can wait until Colombia’s campaign ends.
The defender also described the atmosphere around the national team as “a beautiful atmosphere” and said it felt like “playing at home”. Those comments underline the priority currently driving his decisions.
For Juventus, Lucumí represents an experienced defensive option who could add strength to the back line. The report says he has made a significant number of appearances for Bologna since joining from Genk, while also helping the club win the Coppa Italia in the 2024-25 season.
But a strong World Cup could strengthen Bologna’s negotiating position, particularly if Lucumí performs well against Switzerland. “To reach the end, you have to overcome other obstacles,” he said.
The next development will come after Colombia’s tournament run. Only then is Lucumí expected to reopen discussions, leaving Juventus to decide whether negotiation can bridge the gap between its offer and Bologna’s asking price.
