Fort Collins Male Athlete of the Week: Five Nominees

Soccer nominees deliver decisive numbers

The update credits both soccer nominees with major contributions in high-scoring victories:

  • Eliam Boyer, Windsor: two goals and an assist in a 3-2 win over Timnath.
  • Tyler Wickham, Heritage Christian: three goals and three assists in an 8-1 win over Estes Park.

Boyer’s nomination is reportedly his second in succession, while Wickham’s six direct goal contributions make him one of the week’s most productive performers.

Five athletes, four different sports

The report says the remaining nominees produced standout results in cross-country, golf and tennis:

  • Aiden Mercil, Windsor: first top-team victory and a personal-best time of 15:45.80.
  • Tyler Staples, Fort Collins: first top-team golf win, shooting 69, one under par.
  • Cadell Webb, Fossil Ridge: a 6-0, 6-1 singles victory in a 7-0 team win.

Mercil achieved his result at the Windsor Wizards Invitational, while Staples’ round came during the Front Range League event at Flatirons Golf Course. Webb’s straight-set win helped Fossil Ridge complete a dominant dual-meet result.

Public vote remains open

The public vote is scheduled to remain open through September 24, giving supporters several days to choose between a pair of soccer standouts and three athletes from individual sports.

The final result will offer a snapshot of which performance connected most strongly with local supporters. Boyer and Wickham bring the clearest attacking numbers, while Mercil, Staples and Webb represent success built through endurance, precision and consistency.

Once the poll closes, attention will turn to the winner and the next weekly group of Fort Collins nominees.
