Kimbrough’s Mexican roots come through his mother’s side, with his grandfather having grown up in Michoacán. The report says family traditions, Liga MX matches and home-cooked food helped make that heritage a daily part of his life.
A planned family trip to Michoacán could give Kimbrough an even deeper connection with the place that has shaped his story, both personally and professionally.
Representing Mexico has quickly become one of the defining experiences of Kimbrough’s young career.
His earlier development with Sacramento Republic FC also remains a significant part of the journey. The report says he signed with the club at 13 and became the youngest professional player in United States soccer history, a milestone that placed him under an unusual spotlight early on.
For now, Kimbrough is expected to remain with North Texas SC during preseason. The club is reportedly considering whether to exercise a future transfer option before the start of the 2027 season.
That decision will be one storyline to watch, but so will Kimbrough’s next steps with Mexico. His football is developing alongside a broader mission: showing that Mexican identity can thrive wherever the game takes him.
