Suarez put Inter Miami CF in front after 15 minutes, finishing from Yannick Bright's assist to give the home side early control. Columbus Crew were back on level terms in the 34th minute when Casemiro's own goal made it 1-1, but Miami responded before the break as Allen scored at 45 minutes with Suarez supplying the assist.

Sekou Tidiany Bangoura was booked on 73'42'', Miami answered with two changes in the 75th minute, and Casemiro then went into the referee's notebook as the pressure built.
The late turning point arrived at 83'50'' when Mendez found the equaliser for Columbus, erasing Miami's advantage and locking in the 2-2 score. Patrick Schulte was cautioned at 90 minutes as the visitors held on. The stats leave Miami second in the table on 38 points, while Columbus are 24th on 20.
