The first half stayed goalless, with the clearest flashpoint coming when Jota was shown Athletic's first yellow card in the 37th minute. The hosts reacted at the interval, sending on Dixon Vera for Jota as they looked for a lift after the break.
Instead, the decisive moment arrived early in the second half. Gian Franco Cabezas was booked in the 51st minute and then, at 53', turned the ball into his own net to put Operario ahead 1-0. Athletic made an immediate response from the bench, withdrawing Cabezas for Otavio Bruno dos Santos less than two minutes later.
There was another major moment on 63 minutes when a goal for the visitors was cancelled after a VAR review, keeping Athletic within one score. Both sides then rotated heavily: Neto Paraiba came on for Berto for Operario, while Marcelo Henrique Laborao dos Santos and Luiz Fernando were introduced for the home side in quick succession.
The visitors' task became tougher late on. Jose Cuenu was booked at 77' and then dismissed on a second caution at 78', leaving Operario to finish with 10 men. Even so, they saw out the result through the closing stages, despite another late booking for Vagner Da Silva. The win left Ferroviario third in the table on 35 points, while Athletic Club Sjdr remained 12th on 28.
