Malmo set the tone inside the opening 10 minutes. Andrej Duric struck first at 8', finishing the move after Otto Rosengren's assist, and IFK Goteborg were immediately chasing the game. The pressure kept building, and Erik Botheim doubled the lead in the 22nd minute from Sead Haksabanovic's pass. Botheim then grabbed his second on 45', this time supplied by Oscar Sjostrand, to send Malmo into the break with the score at 3-0.
There was no way back after halftime. Sjostrand went off at the interval and Anton Hoog was sent on, and the substitution paid off almost instantly. Hoog scored at 47' with Botheim turning provider as Malmo pushed the result beyond doubt. IFK Goteborg tried to change the flow before the hour with Saidou Alioum Moubarak, Max Fenger and Filip Ottosson introduced in a triple switch, but the game had already swung firmly away from them.
The closing stages brought more reshuffling than drama. Malmo sent on Johan Karlsson, Theodor Lundbergh, Diego Garcia and Bleon Kurtulus, while Goteborg also introduced Alexander Jallow and Leo Radakovic. Yellow cards for Bager, Ottosson and late scorer Duric were among the final notes in a match where the highlights all belonged to Malmo.
