The biggest questions seem to sit at both ends of the pitch.
Reports suggest goalkeeper Genesis Perez Watson has moved on after a standout season, while much of last year’s attacking output has also departed. The update says Liz Worden, Rajanah Reed and Honoka Hamano were central figures in that production, so replacing goals, creativity and game-changing moments will not be a small job.
That makes the new arrivals feel less like depth pieces and more like immediate answers. The report says Kaina Cesar has come in to compete in goal, while Naomi Clark and Alysiah Lockette are among the players expected to give the attack a new look.
If there is one line that captures UCF’s challenge, it came from captain Maria Tregansin, who said the team must “find our identity as a new team.”
That feels right. Rebuilt squads do not just replace names; they have to replace habits, trust and rhythm. Tregansin gives UCF a proven voice in midfield, while Jada Silvest and Payton Patrick appear to offer experience around her. But experience alone does not create continuity. That has to be built quickly once the games start.
There is also pressure in a good sense. The report says UCF are coming off a 12-win season and a run to the NCAA Tournament second round, so this is no longer a program merely trying to re-enter the conversation. The expectation now is to stay there.
That makes Florida a fascinating first checkpoint. A polished opening would hint that the rebuild is ahead of schedule; a messy one would only underline how much work remains. Either way, the next few weeks should reveal whether this new-look Knights group can turn transition into momentum.
