There is no shortage of edge in Whitefish’s buildup. Ordway’s reference to wanting to “take that back” underlines how much last year still stings, and it could sharpen a team that already appears to have a strong core.

Columbia Falls remain the benchmark

For all of Whitefish’s hunger, Columbia Falls still carry the aura of champions. Their experienced group reportedly includes Riley Byrd, Alexa Friske and Onnikka Lawrence, while June Johnston is expected to move into midfield alongside Evie Dorr.

Coach Thomas Clark struck the right note in the update: “We need to make sure we aren't coming in with complacency. Every year is a new year and we are 0-0 until we play games.” That is exactly the challenge for title winners - protecting standards when everyone else is chasing.

Boys’ race also looks lively

The boys’ picture sounds just as competitive.
