In a tournament expanding to 48 teams and 12 groups, clarity may be one of the few advantages available before a ball is kicked.
Elsewhere, the picture appears far less settled.
Reports suggest Brazil are still working from a broad preliminary pool, with names such as Alisson, Ederson, Marquinhos, Casemiro, Bruno Guimaraes, Neymar, Vinicius Jr and Raphinha in the frame. Argentina also appear to be keeping options open around a group featuring Lionel Messi, Julian Alvarez, Lautaro Martinez, Emiliano Martinez, Cristian Romero and Enzo Fernandez.
That is standard practice. Teams can work with provisional lists of between 35 and 55 players before cutting down to the final 26, including three goalkeepers.
The report also says Uzbekistan have revealed a preliminary squad, with Abdukodir Khusanov and Eldor Shomurodov among the names. That matters because the expanded format gives rising nations a bigger stage and makes smart squad construction just as important as star power.
