Monson Coach Brooke Murphy Leads Rebuild After Hannah Murphy

The burden must be shared

The Mustangs still have a foundation to build around. The report says 14 underclassmen returned, while only one senior was lost from last season’s squad.

That continuity could be crucial. Monson reached the state final last November, and the next step is finding different routes to goal without allowing the team’s identity to become too dependent on one player.

Szado provides an early signal

Freshman central midfielder Jordyn Szado reportedly scored and assisted against Southwick, offering an encouraging glimpse of the contributors Murphy hopes will emerge.

The coach has also highlighted captain Avery Beaudoin, whose defensive work is matched by an ability to threaten in attack. Senior captain Chelsea Hull provides further experience as Monson attempts to turn last season’s run into sustained progress.

Murphy knows the schedule will not offer an easy adjustment period.

“We don't play in an easy conference, and we don't play against easy teams,” she said. “If we put the work in now and take practice seriously, then good outcomes can come.”

Wahconah offers the next test

The report says Monson is due to host Wahconah on Thursday at 16:00, the second match of a three-game home run. It will be another opportunity for Szado, Beaudoin, Hull and the rest of the squad to show that Hannah Murphy’s goals can become a team project rather than an impossible void.
