The report says Plano placed six runners in the top 30 at the Kishwaukee River Conference boys’ cross-country preview, a result that secured second place.
Plano’s girls finished sixth among eight teams, led by Brianna Contreras in 15th. The depth on the boys’ side remains the clearest positive, with several runners contributing rather than one individual carrying the result.
In girls’ golf, Alli Wiertel carded 33, the best individual score in the report, as Oswego Co-Op defeated Plainfield Central 170-232 at Fox Bend.
Plano fell to Marengo 199-251, although Bri Johnson delivered a season-best 53. Kiana May-Jeffries also recorded a personal best with 74.
The boys’ results included Serena’s 196-189 victory over Plano, with Abe Leal leading Plano on 45. Johnsburg defeated Sandwich 158-176, while Finley Taxis paced Sandwich with 42.
The report says Oswego East earned its first Southwest Prairie Conference win by beating Minooka 6-1. Sandwich suffered a 14-0 loss to Woodstock North.
In volleyball, Woodstock North defeated Sandwich 25-9, 28-26. Jessi Ramey recorded six digs and six assists, while Liza Goodbred added four kills.
Yorkville completed a 5-2 girls’ tennis win over Joliet West, taking three singles matches and both doubles contests.
The next conference meets and duals will show whether Plano’s cross-country depth and Wiertel’s scoring form can carry into the next stage of the season.
