The Roof and The Deuce Pub & Pit are currently the only Columbia bars approved for extended hours on selected matchdays. Eastside Tavern remains in the approval process, leaving a limited number of venues positioned to serve fans after the city’s normal closing time.
Columbia declined to adopt Missouri’s wider option allowing bars to operate for up to 23 hours during the tournament. Instead, businesses must apply for extra hours on individual dates, with applications reviewed alongside police and fire officials.
That approach gives the city greater control, but it also creates a deadline-driven process for operators hoping to capture late-night demand.
Businesses have been advised to apply at least two weeks before the dates they want. That makes timing crucial as the tournament approaches.

With that notice period in place, only two of those dates are now realistically available for new approvals. Police preparation has been under way since August 2025, and approved late-night operations will be handled like normal bar shifts.
Not every business is pursuing later closing times. Addison’s has adopted Argentina through Columbia’s “Adopt a Team” scheme, turning the venue into a local supporter base for the tournament.
The choice reflects Argentina’s profile and the fact that the team is scheduled to play in Kansas City, which could bring additional interest to the region. Addison’s also believes the United States-based schedule reduces the need for late-night service.
The next test will come when the first World Cup matches arrive. Columbia’s approved venues will compete for late-hour crowds, while places such as Addison’s will look to win fans through identity, atmosphere and national-team allegiance.
