Randall has reportedly agreed a pre-contract with Dundee United after leaving Auckland FC, with the move expected to take place without a transfer fee. The deal is understood to have been arranged early, making it one of the club’s first moves ahead of the summer window.
Bazeley believes that timing could prove decisive. “Eles entraram na hora certa. Fecharam cedo, antes de Jesse realmente virar manchete e fazer nome. Tenho de dizer que o Dundee United conseguiu uma verdadeira pechincha,” he said.
The coach added that Randall’s value could have been significantly higher if he had remained under contract, telling reporters: “Se ele ainda estivesse sob contrato, você estaria falando de uma taxa alta.”
Randall is reportedly heading to Scotland after a productive campaign with Auckland, where his attacking output earned recognition in the A-League. Bazeley sees him as a winger capable of offering speed, direct running and a threat in the final third.
The 21-year-old prefers operating from the left but can also play centrally. His right-footed profile allows him to attack the byline or cut inside, while Bazeley also believes Randall is comfortable finishing with his left foot.
That versatility could make him useful to Dundee United, particularly in matches where the team needs width and greater penetration from wide areas. Scottish football will demand physical adjustment, but Randall’s pace and ability in one-on-one situations give him a clear platform to adapt.
Randall is currently with New Zealand’s squad and is preparing for the team’s reported World Cup opener against Iran. His performances on the international stage could further raise expectations before his anticipated arrival at Dundee United.
Bazeley also said Chris Wood admires the forward’s game, adding: “Chris gosta muito do Jesse como jogador. Sabe que vai receber bolas na área e bons cruzamentos.”
For now, the transfer remains a reported pre-contract agreement, but Dundee United appear to have moved early for an attacker whose reputation is still growing.
