Saager played for Binghamton from 2017 to 2019, helping transform the Bearcats’ fortunes in the America East Conference. The report says she scored 22 goals in two seasons, earning the conference’s Attacker of the Year award in her first campaign.
A year later, she helped Binghamton win the conference title after the team had finished last in the standings the previous season. She was also selected twice for regional teams, underlining her status as one of the programme’s most effective attacking players.
Bhattacharjee described her impact in equally direct terms: “Kayla era uma atacante perigosa e dinâmica, com um dom genuíno para encontrar o gol.” The former coach’s words reflect a player remembered for both her movement in the final third and her ability to change matches.
After leaving Binghamton, Saager reportedly pursued a professional playing opportunity in the Czech Republic before moving into coaching. She became an assistant with Troy’s women’s team and completed a master’s degree in health and physical education at the university.
Troy said its thoughts and prayers were with Saager’s loved ones and everyone who knew her. The report says she had married John Beckley only months earlier and had been planning to start a family.
As Binghamton and Troy continue their seasons, both programmes will carry forward the memory of a player whose influence extended beyond goals and trophies. Her legacy now belongs to the teammates, athletes and coaches she inspired.
