Attackers set the pace
The report says the strongest attacking numbers came from:
- Abby Felix: seven goals, two assists in two games for Pompton Lakes, which started 4-0.
- Michael DaSilva: four goals, two assists in Lakeland’s victories over Lodi and Wayne Hills.
- Caden McIlveen: four goals, two assists and his first hat-trick for Midland Park, which opened 3-0.
- Eric Petrush: four goals, one assist against Teaneck, followed by one goal and one assist against Hoboken.
- Sophia MacGregor: three goals, three assists across two Wayne Valley wins.
- Nadine Millet: two hat-tricks, six goals and one assist for unbeaten Clifton.
DaSilva’s contribution came during what the update describes as Lakeland’s second 4-0 start in a decade, following the team’s previous fast start in 2023.
Goalkeepers add a defensive edge
The poll is not solely about goals. The report says:
- Eddie Tanderis: two clean sheets for Wallington, saving all 14 shots he faced.
- Karen Macancela: 13 saves in Hackensack’s 1-0 win over Northern Highlands, then four more in a 7-0 victory.
Macancela’s performances carried extra weight because the first result ended a long wait for Hackensack against Northern Highlands, while Tanderis combined individual efficiency with two victories.
The next storyline
The vote offers an early snapshot of North Jersey’s emerging form: unbeaten starts, breakthrough wins and forwards producing at a relentless rate. The next round of school fixtures will test whether Felix, DaSilva, McIlveen and the rest can sustain that momentum after the poll closes.
