The report says the celebration will run from 1:30pm to 9:30pm, with football activities, entertainment, food and drink, cultural programming and a match livestream planned across the day.
Springer Market Square is around a seven-minute walk from Kingston’s downtown bus transfer station. Visitors are being directed to check the Kingston Transit trip planner before leaving home.
Several roads are expected to become pedestrian-only during the celebration, apart from emergency access. The affected areas include Market Street, Brock Street between Ontario Street and Wellington Street, and King Street between Princess Street and Clarence Street.
Drivers can still use municipal lots and garages within walking distance, although the report says access will be tighter than usual. Visitors should check Municipal511.ca before travelling for the latest closure information.
Accessible parking spaces are planned on Clarence Street between King Street and Wellington Street on a first-come, first-served basis. An accessible drop-off and pick-up point is also expected on Clarence Street between Ontario Street and King Street.
The Ontario/Brock car park will host the Kingston Public Market earlier that Saturday and will not be available for parking before 6:30pm. That makes an early arrival, public transit or a park-and-ride option particularly important.
The next test will come on 27 June, when Kingston’s transport plan meets the volume of a major football celebration. Visitors who prepare their route before setting out should have the best chance of enjoying the event without being caught by closures or parking delays.
