FC Dallas Demolition Visible Beside Sweden's World Cup Base

A shock beside the training base

The report says the demolition work was carried out in an active construction zone next to Sweden’s facilities and had been planned in advance. FC Dallas has reportedly stressed that no explosives were used and that the work did not affect the pitch or the areas being used by the Swedish squad.

The section was said to have been closed off before Sweden began using the stadium, but the latest phase of the redevelopment left damaged construction material clearly visible from one side of the ground. For players arriving expecting the familiar routine of a major tournament, the sight was understandably jarring.

Reassurance, but awkward timing

The report says FC Dallas described the work as part of a “scheduled process in a long-term redevelopment of the stadium” and said a pull-down method was used as the project progresses in phases.

That explanation should ease concerns over safety, particularly with no injuries reported and the playing surface unaffected. Yet timing and presentation matter around an international camp. Even controlled work can become a distraction when players are preparing for a decisive fixture and are not expecting to see a construction site beside their base.

The episode also highlights the challenge of hosting elite football while stadium projects continue. Facilities can remain operational, but the atmosphere must still feel secure and professional for visiting teams.

Attention now turns to Sweden’s meeting with Japan. If the training areas remain untouched, the demolition may quickly become a curious pre-match story; any further visible disruption, however, could keep questions around the base camp alive.
