Ty Simpson and Puka Nacua Signal Rams QB Future

A relationship before a handoff

The report says Simpson and Nacua arrived together at SoFi Stadium and that the wide receiver helped guide the quarterback to the correct VIP area after he briefly lost his way. It was a small moment, but a useful one: the Rams appear keen to bring their first-round pick into the environment gradually.

Simpson was selected with the 13th overall pick, yet the immediate plan reportedly remains clear. Matthew Stafford is expected to continue as the Rams’ QB1, keeping the rookie’s early development away from the pressure of an instant starting role.

Why Nacua is the right connection

Nacua is not simply another young teammate. The report credits him with leading the NFL in receptions, reaching the top of the league’s historical list for receiving yards per game and tying for third in receiving touchdowns.

That production gives the relationship genuine football significance. If Simpson eventually takes over, his familiarity with Nacua could help shorten the learning curve in a passing attack built around timing, trust and rapid decisions.

The presence of Davante Adams, who reportedly led the NFL with 14 receiving touchdowns, also means the rookie has experienced targets around him. Nacua, however, appears to be the central long-term connection for the Rams’ next quarterback era.

Patience remains the message

Nothing about the outing indicates that Simpson is about to replace Stafford. Instead, it reflects a franchise building the foundations of a future transition while preserving the veteran’s role in the present.

The next test will come in training camp and preseason action, when Simpson’s off-field connection with Nacua must begin translating into practice reps, route timing and eventually meaningful snaps.
