Buenos Aires Dog Walker Creates Argentina Fan Parade

A pack in Argentina colours

The report says Nahuel Meneghini, known locally as Nano, has dressed the dogs in Argentina jerseys, light-blue-and-white collars and matching leads. Some wear Messi’s No. 10, while tags reportedly carry the name “Los perros de Nano”.

What began with two dogs wearing shirts bought by their owners is said to have expanded across the pack. The result is part football procession, part neighborhood spectacle, with residents stopping to take photographs as the animals pass.

Meneghini explained the idea simply: “I did it out of love for them and for Argentina. And for the World Cup.”

Football as a shared language

Argentina’s national team has long been more than a sporting side in Buenos Aires. The colors, the shirt numbers and the rituals around match day provide a common language across generations.

That was evident in the reaction from residents. Edgardo Pérez is quoted as saying: “These are the only joys we have because nothing ever goes our way, not for workers or retirees. Everything is against us.”

For a few minutes, the dogs offer an escape from those frustrations. Their parade brings together supporters who might otherwise have little in common, united by the anticipation surrounding Argentina’s latest World Cup campaign.

The next walk

The report says the dogs will continue wearing Argentina colors regardless of the team’s progress. Meneghini is also quoted as saying: “But I have faith that we'll win a fourth cup.”

The next chapter will come when Argentina faces Cape Verde. Whatever happens on the pitch, San Cristóbal appears certain to have its own supporters’ procession ready for the next walk.
