Maine Boys' Football Poll: Deering Climbs to Joint Second

Lewiston lead as Deering surge

The report says Lewiston now top the poll with 83 points and four first-place votes. Their recovery from two goals down against Camden Hills has lifted them from sixth, giving the Blue Devils the clearest upward move among the leading teams.

Deering share second with Brunswick on 63 points. Their win over Gorham has been enough to push them into the title conversation, while Gorham have fallen to fifth despite receiving the most first-place votes in the opening poll.

Yarmouth sit fourth on 54 points after drawing with Greely. That result has cost Yarmouth one place, while Greely have moved into ninth.

Scarborough’s fall reshapes Class A

The biggest reversal involves reigning Class A champions Scarborough. The report says they have dropped from first to seventh after losing 1-0 to Thornton Academy.

That result has sent Thornton Academy from outside the top 10 to eighth. It is a significant change in perception after only two weeks of matches, with the defending champions losing their early grip on the top spot and Thornton immediately entering the ranked field.

A crowded race at the top

The revised poll gives first-place votes to four teams, underlining how little separates the leading contenders. Edward Little are sixth with one first-place vote after beating the Windjammers, while Freeport and South Portland share 10th on 10 points.

The next poll, covering matches after 15 September 2026, will show whether Deering and Thornton can sustain their climbs-or whether Scarborough and Gorham begin their own recoveries.
