The report says Evan Johnson opened the scoring before Ferro struck twice in the second half. Cole McLean then completed the victory with the first goal of his career.
It was also reportedly the first time Ferro had scored twice in one match, taking his season total to three. Head coach David Donovan attributed the midfielder’s progress to work away from the pitch.
“When os jogadores começam a fazer musculação, ganham confiança. Isso se transforma em atitude dentro de campo, e ele está muito bem, em grande fase,” Donovan said.
Ferro’s emergence gives Delbarton another attacking outlet at a time when the team appears to be gathering momentum.
The report says Delbarton has not conceded in its last four matches and has allowed only one goal all season. Against Mendham, the team reportedly limited Kaiden Reed through disciplined defending, blocks and intelligent positioning.
That defensive platform has become especially important with Jordan Douglas, Luke Weldon and Caleb McCormick unavailable. Dylan Mazzarella and Matt Brusco also reportedly made only brief appearances before being withdrawn.
“Podemos colocar qualquer um, e temos uma química muito boa,” Ferro said, reflecting the squad’s belief that it can absorb setbacks without losing its structure.
Delbarton’s reported recovery began after a narrow opening defeat by Randolph. Wins over St. Augustine and Chaminade followed, before the emphatic result against Mendham.
The next challenge is turning this strong run into a meaningful postseason push. The memory of last season’s extra-time defeat by St. Benedict’s in the North Jersey, Non-Public A final remains part of the motivation. Delbarton now has momentum, defensive resilience and a confident Ferro - but the next fixture will show whether this surge can become a championship campaign.
