The soccer shortlist is led by Cohasset’s Bryce Meyers, who reportedly scored two hat tricks in wins over Monomoy and Mashpee.
Meyers’ repeated three-goal performances give him the most eye-catching scoring case, but Comeau’s all-around contribution strengthens Pembroke’s challenge.
Golf brings several strong candidates. The report says Pembroke’s Jonny Abban shot 35, including an eagle, in a narrow team win over Duxbury and followed it with a 36 against Hanover.
Norwell’s C.J. Griffith, Hingham’s Emery Olin and Scituate’s Ryan Russo also recorded medal-winning rounds. Duxbury’s Jack Sutliffe reportedly claimed medalist honours twice, shooting 37 against Whitman-Hanson and 35 against Pembroke.
In cross country, Archbishop Williams’ Nick Antonellis won a three-mile race in 16:57 on debut. Canton’s Tristan Grant set a school record at Pequitside Farm with 18:42 over five kilometres, despite finishing third in a team defeat by Mansfield.
The previous winner, Canton golfer Chase Thomas, reportedly collected more than 24,000 votes after a strong round in a team victory. This year’s nominees will now compete for the same public recognition.
The ballot stays open through September 28, with the final result set to crown the South Shore’s next male athlete of the week.
