FC Cincinnati Yet to Clarify Miles Robinson Return

A compressed return window

The report says the United States were eliminated on 6 July, leaving Robinson little time to travel, recover and rejoin his club. That schedule makes a start against Burnley difficult to predict, particularly with Cincinnati yet to indicate whether the friendly will be used as a competitive return or a controlled reintegration.

Robinson has reportedly not played since 25 June. The lack of recent minutes could count against an immediate return, even if the defender is physically ready to train.

Why Robinson’s status matters

Cincinnati’s reliance on Robinson is clear from his club workload. He has reportedly appeared in all 12 of the team’s matches across Major League Soccer and the Concacaf Champions Cup this year.

His only World Cup appearance came in the final group-stage match, when he completed 90 minutes. The report credits him with 16 defensive interventions and two aerial-duel wins, although the United States still conceded from crosses in that fixture. For Cincinnati, the central issue is therefore not simply fitness; it is whether Robinson can quickly recover his club rhythm after an interrupted spell.

A cautious approach would allow him to train with the squad before any decision on Burnley. Starting him immediately could provide continuity, but it would also leave limited recovery time before Cincinnati’s next league commitments.

The fixtures after Burnley

If Robinson misses the friendly, Cincinnati’s next reported MLS opportunity comes at home against Vancouver on 22 July. The Hell is Real derby at Columbus follows on 25 July, creating two league fixtures in four days.

Those matches should provide a clearer test of Robinson’s readiness and Cincinnati’s defensive depth. Until then, his Burnley involvement remains a club decision rather than an expectation.
