Camden Hills Takes First in Maine Girls Soccer Poll

Results changed the picture

The reported ballot gives Camden Hills five of nine first-place votes and 86 points. That is a clear reward for beating two teams viewed as serious contenders in the same division.

Scarborough’s earlier run at the top has ended, but the gap is not overwhelming. The Red Storm are reportedly second with 77 points and two first-place votes. The shift leaves Camden Hills in control, while keeping the race open for the next round of voting.

The margin remains narrow

Yarmouth is third on 75 points and also collected two first-place votes, only two points behind Scarborough. Windham sits fourth on 60 points, while Cape Elizabeth has entered the top five with 44.

That spread gives the poll a competitive shape beyond the top spot. Camden Hills has built the strongest recent case, but Scarborough and Yarmouth remain close enough to reclaim ground with a major win.

A result still waiting to count

The report says Camden Hills then defeated sixth-ranked Mt. Ararat 6-1 on Tuesday, 22 September, after the poll’s voting window had closed. That result was therefore not included in the latest ranking.

If the Windjammers maintain that level of attacking production, the next ballot could strengthen their position. The storyline to watch is whether Camden Hills can turn one outstanding week into sustained control of the Maine girls soccer landscape, or whether Scarborough and Yarmouth respond with results of their own.
