Hansi Flick is reportedly attracted to Porro’s attacking profile. The Spain international offers aggressive overlaps, early crosses and the ability to carry the ball into the final third.
That profile could complement Lamine Yamal on the right. A more adventurous full-back would allow Yamal to receive the ball in advanced positions while Porro stretches defensive lines with runs beyond him. The report says Barcelona believe Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde do not provide the same natural attacking threat from the position.
Porro’s value is therefore not limited to squad depth. He would represent a tactical adjustment, giving Flick another way to break down opponents defending in a compact block.
The reported €60 million valuation is the clearest market signal in the developing story. For Barcelona, that is a major outlay for a January signing and could force player sales or a reshaping of the club’s transfer budget.
Tottenham also have sporting reasons to resist. The report says Porro is central to De Zerbi’s build-up, where full-backs contribute to progression and support the midfield. Removing him midway through the season would create a significant gap, particularly in crossing and ball advancement.
A long-term contract and interest from other European clubs could strengthen Tottenham’s negotiating position, although those details remain unconfirmed.
For now, this appears to be an exploratory approach rather than an advanced transfer. Barcelona must decide whether Porro’s attacking impact justifies the fee, while Tottenham would need a compelling reason to weaken their squad.
The January window should reveal whether Barcelona can create financial room and whether Tottenham identify a replacement before any serious negotiations begin.
