Curtis Move Top of PSAL 3A After 5-0 New Dorp Win

Ba turns stalemate into separation

The report says Curtis responded emphatically after the teams had played out a goalless draw two weeks earlier. This time, Ba’s pace repeatedly exposed space behind the New Dorp defence.

The Senegal-born forward reportedly opened the scoring before half-time after racing through and rounding the goalkeeper. He then completed his hat-trick in the second half, taking his reported tally to eight goals in six matches.

Julian Martinez Ramirez and Giovanni Aparacio were also credited with goals, underlining Curtis coach Cadence Turner’s reported view that the Warriors are not dependent on one scorer. Ba may have delivered the headline moment, but the attack produced enough variety to keep New Dorp under pressure.

Ramos Lopez provides the safety net

Curtis’ defensive performance was just as important. The Warriors reportedly kept a clean sheet, with goalkeeper Kevin Ramos Lopez saving a second-half penalty.

Turner described the stop as an important addition to a strong collective display, while centre-back Thomas Bishop was said to have led the defensive effort. For a team hoping to stay at the summit, that balance between attacking speed and defensive resilience could prove decisive.

The win also represents a sharp change in momentum. New Dorp pressed during the opening stages, but Curtis gradually found more room and punished the openings when they appeared.

A quick test awaits

Curtis are reportedly now the top seeds in the Borough President’s Cup and have received a first-round bye. Their next challenge is expected to come on Sunday at Port Richmond against either MSIT or CSI.

The question now is whether Ba and Curtis can carry this authority into the knockout tie - and maintain their grip on the PSAL 3A lead.
