New Hartford, Cincinnatus Hold No. 1 in NY Girls Rankings

New Hartford, Cincinnatus keep winning

The report lists New Hartford first in Class A after an unbeaten 12-0 start. That record gives the Section III side a clear platform at the top, with consistency keeping them ahead of the chasing field.

Cincinnatus are also reported to remain No. 1, leading Class D with a 10-0 record. Their perfect start has made them one of the strongest small-school teams in the state and ensures Section III retains two top-ranked representatives.

The wider picture is equally notable: the update says nine Section III teams appear inside the top 10 across the six classifications, with 17 ranked overall.

Cicero-North Syracuse pays the price

Cicero-North Syracuse’s position has changed most dramatically. The report says the team had topped Class AAA in the first two rankings but has now fallen to sixth after a 4-0 loss to Shenendehowa.

That result does not erase a strong 9-1 record, but it underlines how quickly rankings can shift when an unbeaten or near-unbeaten team encounters a decisive setback. The next response will matter more than the drop itself.

Depth beyond the leaders

Section III’s strength extends into Class B, where Marcellus and Westhill are reportedly ranked second and third, both with 10-2 records. Frankfort-Schuyler leads the section’s Class C group in eighth after winning 12 of 14 matches.

Copenhagen also sits inside the Class D top five, while Bishop Ludden-Grimes, Sauquoit Valley and Hamilton add further representation across the lists.

New Hartford and Cincinnatus will now look to protect their unbeaten runs, while Cicero-North Syracuse faces the immediate task of rebuilding momentum. The next round of fixtures should show whether the rankings have captured a temporary shift or a genuine change in the state hierarchy.
