Watertown Rises to No. 2 in New York Class AA

Watertown surges in Class AA

The update says Watertown climbed three places from fifth to second, turning its perfect record into one of the section’s biggest ranking gains. The Cyclones now sit just behind the leading Class AA team.

The rest of the division saw mixed movement:

  • West Genesee fell from sixth to ninth despite a 10-2 record.
  • Cicero-North Syracuse remained 18th at 8-2.
  • New Hartford rose one place to 18th in Class A with a 7-4-1 record.

Watertown’s unbeaten run gives the Cyclones a clear platform, but West Genesee’s ranking shows that strong results alone do not guarantee upward movement in a competitive field.

Baldwinsville takes control of Class AAA

Baldwinsville reportedly moved from second to first in Class AAA, replacing its previous position at the top of the section’s rankings. The team has won all 11 matches listed in the update.

Utica Proctor also made a notable move, rising from eighth to fifth after compiling a 10-1-2 record. That jump places another Section III contender firmly among the leading Class AAA teams.

New names arrive across the lower classes

Several other programs gained ground or entered the rankings:

  • Skaneateles sits 11th in Class B at 8-3.
  • Westhill and Clinton entered Class B at 15th and 16th.
  • Westmoreland/Oriskany remains 10th in Class C, while Frankfort-Schuyler entered 15th.
  • Hamilton holds fourth in Class D after 13 wins in 14 games.
  • McGraw, unbeaten at 11-0, remains sixth in Class D.

The next rankings release will show whether Watertown can close the gap in Class AA and whether Baldwinsville can hold the Class AAA lead as the regular season moves toward its decisive stages.
