USA Sports Secures U.S. Bundesliga Rights Through 2030-31

Bayern and Dortmund provide the launch event

The first major fixture will be Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on Saturday, 22 August.

It is an immediate statement of intent. The match brings together the defending Bundesliga champions and runners-up in Der Klassiker, with Harry Kane among the headline names expected to feature for Bayern. The contest will open USA Sports’ live coverage on USA Network.

Rather than beginning with a low-profile league fixture, the broadcaster has secured one of German football’s most recognisable rivalries as its introduction to viewers.

A single destination for Bundesliga fans

The agreement covers live English-language coverage of every Bundesliga regular-season match in the United States. More than 300 live matches are expected to be shown across USA Network and Versant-owned streaming platform Fandango.

That consistency could matter as much as the headline fixture. American viewers will have a clear destination for Bayern, Dortmund and the rest of the division, rather than navigating several competing rights holders.

Hong also pointed to the league’s global appeal, describing its clubs and players as “some of the most well-known” in world football. That familiarity gives USA Sports a strong foundation, particularly with its existing Premier League coverage.

The next test is turning access into habit

The Bundesliga deal forms part of a wider expansion of USA Sports’ live portfolio, with combined Bundesliga and Premier League coverage set to deliver more than 1,000 hours of live football during the 2026-27 season.

The next storyline will be whether the Bayern-Dortmund opener can convert curiosity into regular engagement. With the rights secured for the long term, USA Sports now has time to make German football a permanent part of the American sports calendar.
