Freshman Girls Soccer Leaders Updated Through 8 October

Four ways to lead

The four categories offer different views of early-season impact:

  • Points combine goals and assists into one attacking measure.
  • Goals identify the leading finishers in the reporting period.
  • Assists highlight players creating chances for teammates.
  • Saves recognise goalkeepers with the strongest reported totals.

That separation matters. A player can rank highly for points without leading either the goals or assists table, while a goalkeeper’s contribution is measured through saves rather than attacking production.

Why the deadline matters

Statistics must be entered by 22:00 on the night before publication to qualify for the update, the report says. Figures submitted after that cut-off may not appear until a later list.

As a result, an omission should not automatically be interpreted as a lack of performance. It may reflect a late submission, a different recording date or incomplete communication between a school and the database.

The tables also cover only the period included in this update. Individual schools may hold broader season totals that are not yet reflected in the published leaders.

Coaches have a key role

Teams, coaches and athletic directors are responsible for ensuring match statistics reach the database. The report says staff do not enter figures unless they are covering a match in person, increasing the importance of accurate school-level reporting.

Anyone who believes a player has been missed should contact their team’s coach or athletic director. The next update will offer another chance for late submissions to be included and for the freshman girls soccer picture to become clearer.
