Gianni Infantino Faces Pay Questions Ahead of 2026

The payment under scrutiny

’s annual report declared Infantino’s earnings for 2024 at 4.27 million Swiss francs, while the reported subsidiary payment was not included in that figure. The sum allegedly included $626,229 classified as “other reportable compensation”.

That distinction is central. The issue is not simply the size of the payment, but whether money from a -related company should have been disclosed alongside the president’s declared remuneration.

The report says the payment was made by FWC2026 US Inc, a company established to help organise the tournament. Infantino’s wider compensation arrangements remain unconfirmed publicly, and the reported figures should be treated as allegations awaiting formal examination.

Why the governance question matters

The report cites statutes as requiring the president’s individual compensation to be made public. If related-company payments were omitted, the dispute could raise questions over the effectiveness of ’s disclosure controls and the role of its compensation structures.

Miguel Maduro, a former governance official, has called for an investigation and argued that remuneration from -related companies should also be disclosed. His intervention adds pressure ahead of the Council meeting, even though it does not establish that any rule was breached.

The report also claims similar payments may have been made in 2025 and 2026, but those allegations have not been independently confirmed.

A test for ’s leadership

The expected meeting in Zurich gives ’s 37 Council members an opportunity to seek clarity on the payment, its approval process and whether future disclosures need to be expanded.

The next storyline will be whether the Council demands a formal investigation or accepts ’s existing explanation. Either outcome will shape scrutiny of Infantino’s leadership as the organisation moves towards the 2026 World Cup.
